The Goodrich girls varsity soccer season has begun and the Lady Martians are ready.
‘The biggest challenge we have right now is the weather,? said Coach Evan Huizenga. ‘We’re trying to stay warm during the game and on the bench.?
The Lady Martians fell, 8-1, to the Lapeer West Panthers on Mar. 23.
‘The toughest part about the game was working together as a new team and all the new girls,? said returning senior Dayna Vezina.
At the half, West and Goodrich were tied 1-1. Lapeer West scored 7 goals on the Martians in the second. ‘The level of competition was very high for the first game.? Huizenga added
During 2008 season, the girls varsity soccer team completed their season with a record of 4-18. ‘This season I hope we progress well,? Vezina. said.

The team roster includes of six returning seniors. New to the team are seniors Kara Suppes and Alana Misura, sophomore Kelsey Britton, and freshman Jenna Underwood. ‘Right now our biggest challenge is getting comfortable with a new team,? Huizenga said.
