The Oxford varsity Lady Kickers once again had a victorious 4-2 win over Lapeer East on Monday.
Oxford got off to a quick start and scored two goals in the first half. Both were scored by junior forward Sam Bono.
Lapeer East crept up on the ladies with a goal late in the first half and another in the second half to tie the game. Again, Bono scored the third goal to pull Oxford ahead.
Senior Lisa Reile scored the last goal of the game with just minutes left.
Coach John Thaler credited many assists to Alex Johnson, Lisa Reile and Chelsea McIntosh.
Junior goalkeeper Kelly Henry was ‘outstanding? in the goal for Oxford.
The Lady Kickers continued their winning streak after they beat Brandon 1-0 on Wednesday night.
Coach Thaler said the girls pressured the Blackhawk’s defense the entire first half.
Junior Sam Bono scored her 14th goal of the season with an assist from senior Chelsea McIntosh.
In the second half, captain goalkeeper Kelly Henry had three big saves.
‘Oxford held tight the entire game and never broke down,? Thaler said. ‘The defense and offense did a great job in a hard fought win.?
Oxford’s overall record is 5-2-1 and 4-1 in the Flint Metro League.
They take on Lapeer West at home April 24.
