The Brandon Varsity Girls Swim team placed second behind Fenton, who had 613 points overall, at the Metro Swimming and Diving Championship Nov. 2-3 at Oxford High School.
The Brandon Blackhawks, who came out with 358 points, out swam Lapeer (276 points), Oxford (219 points), Swartz Creek (185 points), Holly (184 points), and Clio (55 points) at the meet. During the first event, the girls 200 yard medley relay, the Brandon relay team, which included Kaitlin Grost, Tara Bartle, Amber Sicherman, and Tiffany Angel came in fourth trailing Fenton, who took first, Oxford in second, and Holly in third. The girls did even better in the 12th event, the girls 400 yard freestyle relay, when they took second place behind Lapeer. The freestyle relay team consisted of Shannon Penix, Stephanie Peck, Megan Kennedy, and Kaitlin Grost.

‘We had a couple disqualifications which could have brought the whole team down, but the rest of the girls really stepped up and swam hard.?
The Blackhawks league record is now 5-1. They are in second behind Fenton.
