Lady Dragons finish second, boys fifth at OAA Red-White Championships

ORION twp. — Lake Orion High School’s girls varsity track team finished second while the boys finished fifth at the OAA Red-White Championships on Friday at Lake Orion High School.
Several athletes recorded personal bests. The girls finished with 80.33 points and the boys finished with 60.5.
Girls events
Sophomore Abbey Neering finished first in the 400-meter dash with a personal record 57.92 seconds for a second place finish, a school record. Freshman Elisabeth Hetu also set a personal record while placing fifth in 1:02.59 minutes.
Senior Lauren Ritz’s 2:23.01 finish, also a personal record, earned her sixth place in the 800-meter run, while sophomore Natalie Meldrum’s 11:47.72 personal-record finish earned her third in the 3,200-meter run.
The 100-meter hurdles saw two Dragons finish in the top eight. Junior Sabrina DiMaggio finished second in a personal best time of 14.95 seconds and sophomore Olivia Bagdasarian finished seventh in 17.58 seconds. Freshman Greta Colquitt finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.79 seconds.
The 100-meter relay team of freshman Zoe Moss, sophomore Jenna Eichbrecht, DiMaggio and freshman Lexi McDaniel finished in fourth place with a time of 51.45 seconds. The 400-meter relay team of Neering, Ritz, Hetu and Colquitt finished in second place in 4:04.10 minutes.

distance of 31-feet; high jump, junior Mikaela Redmon, third, 4-feet, 11-inches, and sophomore Elyse Avey was eighth with a jump of 4-feet, 7-inches.
While points were not tallied in the pole vault, Bagdasarian and junior Grace Carlson vaulted over a personal record 11-feet, 6-inches and 10-feet, 6-inches, respectively.
Boys events
Senior Fernando Bartolome finished second in the 100-meter dash at 11.13 seconds, and third in the 200-meter dash at 22.43 seconds. Junior Benjamin Lako finished in seventh place during the 400-meter dash at 51.67 seconds, and junior Max Houvener finished eighth in the 1,600 meter run at 4:35.22 minutes.

Freshman Braydon Harris finished 11th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.39 seconds, a personal record.

Sophomore James Bambard finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a personal best finish of 41.58 seconds.
The 100-meter relay team of juniors Donovin Findlay and Malek Pulford, Bambard and Bartolome earned third place by finishing in 43.54 seconds. The 200-meter relay team of Bambard, Pulford Lako, and Bartolome finished in fourth place in 1:30.83 minutes.
The 800-meter relay team of Houvener, junior Alexandro Skakal, senior Blake Peardon and senior Raymond Lucero II finished third in 8:12 minutes.
Earning points in the field events were: in shot put, junior Jayden Borrero in fifth with the distance of 45-feet, 7-inches, a personal record; discus, Borrero in third with the distance of 148-feet, 1-inch; high jump, senior Alex Damiano, third, 5-feet, 10-inches, and senior Nolan Rhodes, eighth, 5-feeet, 8-inches. In long jump, sophomore Anthony Catenacci, finished sixth with a jump of 19-feet, .75-inches, a personal record.
Points were not tallied for the boys pole vault either, however sophomore Tyler Mollan, 14-feet, 2-inches, and Rhodes, 14-feet, 2-inches, also finished with personal records. Their vaults also set a school record height.
The Dragons will compete today at Troy High School, and at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Milford High School.
