Clarkston Lacrosse players are getting ready for their ninth annual Game for a Cure and invite you to join the event, May 11, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
All of the proceeds from the event go to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Cancer Research Center in Pontiac, Mich.
Last year, Clarkston Lacrosse donated over $15,000 to St. Joseph.
T-shirts are only $15 and allow free admission when worn to Game for a Cure.
In addition to lacrosse games played every hour, a bake sale, fastest shot contest and dunk tank; a youth tournament with players in grades 2-8 will also take place in the fields behind the High School stadium.
Game for a Cure began nine years ago as a tribute to Frank “Big Poppa” Kaminskas, whose positive influence impacted many in the lacrosse community.
‘It’s a way to teach our young players the importance of giving back and investing in their community,? said Brian Kaminskas, Clarkston Boys Varsity Lacrosse head coach.
Twenty-six teams participate in lacrosse games throughout the day leading up to the boys varsity game against Petoskey.
