Harry Knitter, a resident of Independence Township, has been elected to the board of directors of the Michigan Parkinson Foundation in Southfield.
Knitter has been under treatment for Parkinson’s disease for the past 13 years, and underween deep brain stimulation surgery for the affliction four years ago.
The foundation provides a wide range of benefits to victims of Parkinson’s disease, including a network of 49 support groups throughout the state.
A new group is forming at Rochester’s Crittenton Hospital, and will conduct its first meeting on April 4.
