District play has started in varsity soccer this week and the Wildcats are hosting in what is hoped to be a blue turf home field advantage.
The Wildcats were scheduled to open district play against Carman-Ainsworth on Tuesday and then hopefully take on Lake Orion on Thursday at Wildcat Stadium. Both games were at 7 p.m.
Last week, the Wildcats tied one and lost another in league play. Oxford came up short against West Bloomfield on Tuesday night and dropped a 3-0 decision. Oxford kept the game close in the first half with West Bloomfield up 1-0 at the half.
The Lakers would go on to score two quick goals early in the second to put the game away. Wildcat sophomore Francisco Rivera had the best opportunity of the night when his shot hit the post late in the second half.
Also junior Travis Simat had a headed goal disallowed for offsides.
On Thursday, the Wildcats battled Farmington Hills Harrison to a 0-0 tie. The Wildcats had several good scoring chances but could not get the ball past the Harrison goalkeeper.
Oxford’s record in the OAA Blue was 7-2-3 in the OAA Blue and 8-5-3 overall.
