As a result of an unannounced random drug search conducted last week at Oxford High School, two students will face disciplinary action.
According to Principal Mike Schweig, a marijuana pipe was found in one student’s locker. Another student was found to be in possession of some over-the-counter dietary pills.
‘These students will be processed through the Student Code of Conduct,? he wrote in an e-mail.
The 43-minute search was conducted using a drug-detecting canine supplied by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Dept.
‘The goal of this procedure is (to), on a random basis, provide a deterrent to minimize the presence of contraband items on school property,? Schweig wrote. ‘We feel these types of exercises promote a more safe and secure school environment.?
Schweig noted rumors that an OHS custodian had illegal drugs or was arrested for possession are not true. ? CJC
