A past Brandon High School In-House Suspension room supervisor will be arraigned on charges of sexually assaulting a female high school student.
Following a preliminary hearing on April 19 to establish probable cause, Circuit Judge Dana Fortinberry bound Jodi Keck, 27, of Owosso over on one count each of third degree and fourth degree sexual criminal sexual conduct. His arraignment is scheduled for April 27 before Circuit Judge Nanci Grant.
According to Oakland County Assistant Prosecutor Ken Frazee, the charges stem from a Feb.10 incident that occurred in a Brandon High school classroom where Keck was supervising students.
The alleged victim, an 18-year-old female student, testified at Monday’s hearing that she was assigned to the in-house suspension room after her cell phone rang during class. School policy prohibits students from using cell phones during school hours. Students may possess phones yet they must be turned off during class time. The girl went to Keck’s desk during her suspension for help with a project where he allegedly assaulted her, Frazee said.
‘The girl was very creditable in her testimony and the school has cooperated’she is also expected to graduate this spring,? said Frazee. ‘Keck had also possibly shown some students pornographic pictures on a school computer.?
Keck resigned within 24 hours of school officials initiating an investigation with the assistance of the school’s liaison officer. He is free on $25,000 cash or surety bond.
Frazee added that Keck is married, had no prior convictions and has served time in the military.
