Students at Leonard Elementary took a hands-on approach to their regular science curriculum when Science Alive, a Waterford-based program, visited their school Dec. 12.
Science Alive was started by biologists Bill and Terri Neill in 1992 and created to bring positive hands-on science experiences to students.
The couple travels all over Michigan, from Port Huron to Traverse City, anywhere people want them to go.
The Neills bring various reptiles and birds, like small alligators, a python and parrots, to the classroom and teach students about them.
Prior to their visit, the Neills send materials to the teacher to help prepare students.
Science Alive’s visit was sponsored by Leonard’s PTO.
