Investigation into Patterson death given to prosecutor’s office

An investigation into the February death of Brooks Patterson? son of Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson? has been turned over to the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office, confirmed Genesee County Sheriff’s Department Captain Chris Swanson.
Patterson, 28, died as the result of a snowmobile accident on Feb. 10 on Lake Shinanguag.
Involved in the incident was Jason Anderson, 34, of Davison, whom, Swanson previously told The Citizen, was following another snowmobiler on the lake that evening. The person Anderson was trailing veered right, said Swanson, apparently to avoid a collision with another snowmobile driven by 48-year-old Robert Slade of Goodrich. Slade, who owns property on the lake, was sharing a snowmobile with Patterson. Anderson collided with Slade and Patterson.
All three men were transported to Genesys Regional Medical Center by Genesee County Sheriff Paramedics. Patterson died from injuries sustained in the accident at Genesys on Feb. 11.
Swanson said Anderson had a history of prior traffic violations and had a suspended license at the time of the incident, but said operating a snowmobile while having a suspended driver’s license is legal.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton was not available for comment.
