The Oxford Wildcats won one and lost one during the past week in Flint Metro League hockey action.
The Cats easily got past Clio, 6-1, before dropping a weekend contest to Lapeer West, 5-1.
In the Clio game, Oxford got two goals and an assist from Adam McLoskey while his brother, Ben added a goal and two assists. Steven Shuleyko and Will Buday each netted a goal and assist and Mitch Stefanski had a goal and two assists.
Goalie Corey Hrischuk stopped 15 shots.
Adam McLoskey said he hoped the Cats could challenge for the Flint Metro League title this season.
‘We want to win the league this year,? he said. ‘We have a lot of seniors and we’re looking forward to facing the other teams in our league. We’re ready to go and we think we’re in a good position this season.?
One player on the team, Tim Marney, won Player of the Week honors from the Michigan High School Hockey Coaches Association last week.
Marney was honored for scoring two hat tricks in consecutive games two weeks ago resulting in a pair of Oxford wins.
In the West game, Adam McLoskey scored Oxford’s lone goal in the second period before the Panthers unleashed a five-goal blitz. Hrischuk stopped 35 shots.
The team is 1-2 in Metro League play and 3-4 overall.
