Senior Adam Hyde officially wrapped up the Brandon boys track season May 31.
Hyde finished 10th in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles at the Division II state track meet, with a time of 40.9 seconds.
The Blackhawks wrapped up their first season in the Flint Metro League in a tie for sixth place, but Coach Gary Medland is still optimistic for the future.
‘We improved over what we had done last year,? he said. ‘The Flint Metro is a difficult league, but we had some improved performances this season. We’re returning all but five of our athletes next season.?
Those five are graduating seniors Ian Edmonds, Danny Fulks, Jeffrey Haselhuhn, Paul Mathes and Matthew Tinsey.
Brandon wrapped up their league season at the Flint Metro League Meet May 21. The Blackhawks finished seventh out of seven teams, compiling a total of 24 points.
Junior Ben Reed was the lone team member to make all-league honors, placing third in the 1600 meter run (4:36.1). Reed also finished sixth in the 800 meter run (2:08.6) and fifth in the 3200 meter run (10:45.8).
In addition, Edmonds placed fifth in the 100 meter dash (11.7) and fourth in the 200 meter dash (23.4), and Adam Hyde took fourth in the 300 meter hurdles (41.0).
A couple of the Blackhawks? relay teams also placed at the league meet. The 800 meter relay team of Matt Crandall, Matt Rife, Brendon Moquin and Josh Luczak finished fifth (1:46.4), and the 400 meter team of Crandall, Hyde, Edmonds and Rife finished fourth (47.3).
