Hyde, Murphy lead Brandon wrestlers at Petoskey Invitational

The Brandon wrestling team had their struggles at the Petoskey Invitational Saturday, Jan. 21, but several Blackhawks did well for themselves.
Brandon went 1-4 at the invite, placing fifth out of six teams. The Blackhawks? lone win came against Vicksburg, with Brandon earning a 51-25 win.
In their other four matches, the Blackhawks lost 56-24 to Petoskey; 63-15 to North Branch; 51-30 to Grand Rapids Catholic Central; and 44-35 to Marquette.
Andrew Hyde (152) went 5-0 for the Blackhawks in Petoskey, while Travis Murphy (103) went 4-0 and Zeke Grounds (215) went 4-1.
In addition, Jack Boswell (130) won his first match of the day, but was injured in that contest and had to sit out the rest of the invitational. Brandon coach Josh Cross said Boswell was on his way to going undefeated in the invite when the injury occurred.
The Blackhawks were scheduled to travel to Oxford Wednesday, Jan. 25 for a Flint Metro League matchup against the Wildcats and Lapeer West.
