Humane Society gets helping paw from OES

Thanks to the generous fourth-graders at Oxford Elementary School, the Michigan Humane Society (MHS) was the lucky recipient of an $80 donation last Wednesday.
Ron Blauet, a pet educator from the MHS, visited the children with his Chihuahua/poodle mix dog ‘Chip the Wonder Dog? and taught them about what it takes to properly care for a pet.
The students were also amazed at the wide range of animals that have made their home at the MHS, like tigers, bears, anacondas and even some farm animals. Whatever animal it is, they care for them all.
‘We look at our critters here as children,? Blauet told the students.
During his presentation, Blauet also talked about how to adopt pets from the MHS, how he used to be an animal rescue officer and how to behave when approaching a dog they’re not familiar with.
After his presentation, the children surprised Blauet with an $80 donation, and some cans of dog food, to the MHS.
Of course, Chip was the center of attention and received lots of giggles after performing his special tricks.
