The Oxford boys and girls varsity track team lost to Holly at their April 11 meet, but coach Adam McDonald said his athletes are improving.
The boys lost 63-72 with Adam Richmond taking first place in the 3200 meter run and second in the 1600 meter run. ‘Hard work in the off-season has paid off,? McDonald said.
Andrew Klimbal also took first place in the 800 meter run, second in the 400 meter run and third place in the long jump. McDonald said ‘he’s a sophomore athlete that keeps improving each week.?
The girls lost 67-70, but saw Tiara Tatarczuk take first place in the long jump, 400 meter relay and 800 meter relay. ‘She’s a consistent performer for the team,? McDonald said.
McDonald said Shaunte Waller is showing ‘she is the thrower to beat in the Flint Metro League? after taking first place in the shot put. She also placed second in discus. The track teams will take on Brandon away on April 25.
