Clarkston gets a taste of big-city high fashion, Sept. 10, all for a good cause.
“We’re having too much fun ? that’s why we decided to have a fashion show,” said Shari Schulz, owner of Chi Chi La La Boutique and Clarkston Flower Shoppe, 7150 N. Main Street.
“We’ll have a snazzy runway in the front parking lot ? people will see it driving by,” said Ashley Schulz, Shari’s daughter.
“And a red carpet, the whole nine yards,” said Stephanie Harmon, manager.
“It’ll be like a Chicago fashion show in Clarkston ? high fashion, with a high energy vibe,” Ashley said.
All proceeds will go to the Matthew Bittker Foundation, a non-profit charity funding research for neuroblastoma and other types of pediatric cancer.
“A customer came in one day with a couple pieces of their merchandise and told us about it,” Harmon said. “We’re pretty blessed here. This is a chance to give back.”
“It’s the right thing to do,” Shari said. “It’s a good cause.”
High Fashion Meets Clarkston Fall Fashion Show is 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
Models are all volunteers, mostly friends and associates, wearing a diverse selection of unique clothing for all ages and sizes. Music and apparel were donated for the show, Ashley said.
“The Clarkston community really pulled together for this,” she said.
“It’s $12 to sit, enjoy hors d’oeurves and a glass of wine, and enjoy yourself for a couple hours,” Harmon said. “We’d like to do it again, pump it up for next year.”
They’re looking at SCAMP for next year’s fashion show beneficiary, Shari said.
“I believe in supporting local groups and businesses ? our home town,” she said.
