Hegel Road Bridge construction

The Hegel Road Bridge will undergo more extensive repairs than expected.
It was reported at the Feb. 13 meeting of the Goodrich Village Council that following an application Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for critical bridge funding, the village was approved 95 percent of the cost of construction on the bridge.
It was originally reported that the bridge would be repaired rather than replaced.
However, it was announced at Monday’s Village Council meeting that the scope of that project had changed with the revelation that it would cost less to build a new bridge.
The village will front $20,000 of the total cost of the $404,000 project.
Information regarding the bridge construction will be provided during the June 12 meeting of the village council.
