Green win

Senior Tommy Ronk led the boys varsity golf team to their first victory for the season.
He swung a par 39 in the match against Bloomfield Hill Lahser, 171-189.
Taylor Walker followed with a par of 42. Sean Hoffman, Chad Wotton and Nick Robeson finished with par 45 and James Delnick par 47.
‘I thought they played okay,? said Coach Mark Wiegand. ‘It’s still early in the year for the boys, especially for Ronk. He started late because of his successful season with the basketball team. He will be very consistent.?
Ronk is the only returner from last season’s team and is joined by juniors, Robeson Hoffman, Walker; sophomores Wotton, Ryan Milliken; freshmen Tyler Vandenavond and Delnick.
‘A lot of learning for the beginning and we will keep being competitive,? said Weigand. ‘We have two freshmen which is very unusual for Clarkston sports on the varsity level. The freshman class has a lot of talent coming up for the years to come.
The boys first OAA Red tournament that was scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed.
They will play a league match against Troy and then will head north for the Traverse City Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
‘Our goal for the season is to keep improving as the season goes and give everyon as much experience as we can,? said Wiegand.
