Some local volunteers need some help.
The Goodrich Village Volunteers (GVV), founded earlier this year with the purpose of enhancing the community needs some help this August.
The GVV recently received a $1,000 grant from SAGE (Safe and Active Genesee for Everyone). The collaborative of local advocates, non-profit, private and government organizations work together to advocate and support active living initiatives that promote safe opportunities for people to be physically active throughout Genesee County.
Along with some funds from the Goodrich Village Council, the group will be constructing a small, two item play area for very young children in the Goodrich Commons park near the Kearsley Creek.
A Moon Rock Climber was purchased with the funds and will be installed in mid-August.
‘We are looking for a few dedicated volunteers to help during the one or two day construction process,? said Brenda Hawkins, GVV member. We will need volunteers willing to help dig and install individual footings for the play pieces.?
We will need volunteers to help us spread gravel and move mulch,? she said. ‘There are lighter jobs as well, stretching landscape fabric, installing drain pipe, and more. Prior to the installation date, we may need someone who can do a bit of spot welding. If you can help, or even think maybe you might be able to help with one of these jobs, please do give us a call and we will put you on the call list.?
