Goodrich — So far, Goodrich school officials anticipate no cuts in next year’s budget.
“It basically shows we can survive another year,” said Goodrich Schools Superintendent Raymond Green, “but we may not survive the way we want, we may have to change some of the line items.”
According to the preliminary Goodrich 2004-2005 budget report, the district plans to shell out $15,508,268 in expenditures, and expects to take in $14,332,620 in total revenues. Approximately half of the projected general fund balance of $2,218,109 would be used to offset the difference.
Of the projected revenue, the district plans to receive $12,433,464 in state revenue, based on possible state cuts.
Although Michigan school districts received $6,700 per pupil from the state this year, next year’s state allowance may reduced by $70 to $196 per child, said Green, based on a $350 million reduction in Michigan’s School Aid Fund.
Despite projected salary increases and an expected 10 percent rise in the cost of staff insurance, the Goodrich preliminary 2004-2005 budget report reflects no reductions in staff or programs yet.
“Even the money in the budget for playgrounds is in there for next year, but it could change from day to day,” said Green.
