Goodrich School Board OKs artificial turf for field

Goodrich-By a 7-0 vote on Feb. 27 the school board approved $586,140 for artificial turf for the athletic field. After a few upgrades to the middle school last year, the second phase of a $15.4 million bond extension approved by voters in February 2011 has been ongoing since December.
The bid was awarded to Kiefer Speciality Flooring of Lindenhurst, Ill. and will include an eight-year warranty. The project should begin this spring and be ready for play in the fall.
‘We liked the quality of the field,? said John Fazer, district superintendent. ‘The specifications were exactly what we wanted after we looked at other fields at schools in the area.?
Avondale and Byron Center schools on the west side of Michigan currently have turf similar to what will be installed.
In addition, Kiefer will also supply the replacement wood floor in the high school gymnasium this summer.
