Goodrich – To ‘maintain harmonious relations? with neighboring school districts, the board of education opted not to allow a land transfer.
The board voted 6-1 against the transfer, requested by Davison school district residents Bryan and Angela Grogan, at its June 20 meeting. Board vice president Kenneth Rappuhn was the lone vote in favor of the transfer.
The child of the petitioning family already attends school in the Goodrich district through Genesee County’s Schools of Choice program, said Goodrich superintendent Kim Hart.
Last month, the board voted against another land transfer requested by Goodrich schools resident George F. Rizik II, who wished to have his property included within the boundaries of the Grand Blanc school district.
Generally, land transfer requests’whether residents want to join or leave the district’are denied to stay on positive terms with nearby school districts, Hart said.
‘What if three or four people go to Davison next year and say ‘We want to go to Davison? and Davison says OK, because Goodrich did it last year.?
The Davison and Grand Blanc school districts have also denied the transfers.
