Goodrich golfers making third straight trip to state tourney

Once again, the Goodrich boys golf team is heading to the state meet.
The Martians won their third straight regional golf championship Oct. 8 in a Division 3 tournament at Woodland Hills Golf Course in Sandusky.
Goodrich finished with a team score of 323, outdistancing second-place Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Ports, which finished at 332. Sandusky earned the final state qualifying spot in the tournament, finishing third at 334.
The Martians? Ben Richards earned medalist honors at the meet, shooting 73 to defeat Chris Ball of Sandusky by four strokes. Charlie Richards and Nick Wesener each shot 81, while Jared Swanson added a round of 88.
The state tournament was held Friday, Oct. 15 and Saturday, Oct. 16 at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. Results were not available as of press time.
