Goodrich golfers all alone atop GAC standings

Goodrich’s boys golf team headed into the Byron Invitational tied for first in the Genesee Area Conference.
However, the Martians asserted themselves as the team to beat in the league by winning the Sept. 13 invite, finishing with a team score of 326, winning the Division 3-4 portion of the invite. Oakland Christian and Bentley tied for second with a team score of 340.
Goodrich also won the second GAC tournament of the season, which was held within the framework of the Byron Invite. Goodrich defeated Bentley and third-place LakeVille (342) to win the league matchup.
Matt Christensen was the Martians? leading golfer at the tournament, shooting 77. Wes Coleman was next at 79, followed by Frankie Rogers (80) and Tyler Frantangelo (90).
On Sept. 12, the Martians defeated LakeVille and Mt. Morris in a GAC triangular meet. Goodrich finished at 170, while LakeVille shot 183 and Mt. Morris 195.
Coleman led the Martians with a round of 41, followed by Rogers and Dustin McCormick, each at 42.
