Goodrich- After more than six years the Farmers Market is moving this spring.
On Monday the village council voted 4-0 to move the Farmers Market from the commons area near Erie Street to the Goodrich Trade Center just north of the village on M-15.
‘It’s a win-win move for the farmers market,? said Jakki Sidge, village administrator. ‘The move out to M-15 should increase the amount of traffic to the market’customers driving home from work will have the opportunity to pick up a few fresh items on the way. Last year they would have missed it.?
Starting May 17 the Flower Day Farmers Market will be open from 3-7 p.m. and feature produce, homemade crafts, and flowers.
Bernadette Jacobs, owner of the Goodrich Trade Center, said there’s plenty to see.
‘We’re happy to add the Farmers Market to our location on M-15,? said Jacobs. ‘The area will be much larger and there’s room for more than 30 vendors. Also, the facility will be open on Saturdays in addition to Thursdays, which will also add to the selection and variety of vendors.?
Jacobs added that a marketing plan for the vendors at the Farmers Market is in the works.
The Farmers Market is now located at The Goodrich Trade Center, 7285 S. State Road, Goodrich (the former Jan’s Sports Shop). Details: 248-622-1516.
