The Varsity Wildcat Golf team started the season on the right foot after winning their first two matches over Lutheran High North and Clio.
Oxford opened with a 166-170 victory against Lutheran High North on Tuesday, April 13.
‘We have some good matches with them and this was no exception,? said Varsity Head Coach Terry Kelley.
Sophomore Nolan Chapman lead the way for the Wildcats with a 38, Doug Piesko shot a 40, and both Nick Hocker and Josh Hosking shot a 44 for Oxford.
‘It was a really a mediocre performance for us and it’s nice when you can play not particularly well and still get a win,? said Kelley. ‘Chapman played real well for us and has been consistently scoring well for us.?
The Wildcats followed their season opening win with another down to the wire victory over Clio, 159-164.
Both Chapman and Hocker shot a 39 to lead the Wildcats, while Cody Collier had a 40 and Piesko shot a 41.
Clio was leading the match with the fifth and sixth golfers on the course for Oxford, and Collier, the number five man, turned in his score of 40, it pulled the match out for the Wildcats.
‘We’re getting pretty good balance…I told them that I expected them to score 160 or better at home on a regular basis. That’s the quality of talent that we have,? said Kelley.
The boys travel to Swartz Creek on Wednesday, April 21 before taking on Fenton at home on Wednesday, April 28.
