The Oxford girls golf team ended their busy season with an impressive 5-2 record, but a regional loss.
On May 14, the Lady Wildcats won against Avondale 239 to 197. Placing for Oxford were Kate Hubbard with 43, a record for the varsity golfer; Jacqui Grace with 47, Kate Offer with 53 and Jackie Maher with 54. Also playing for Oxford that day were Beth Hubbard with 55 and Emily Jacobsen with 58.
In regional competition, the Lady Cats placed ninth out of 16 teams. Parent Bob Hubbard said the ladies played against some of the top teams in the district.
‘Swartz Creek, who was ranked number one in division two, won the tournament with 348,? he said. ‘Flushing, whose home course they were playing on, came in second with 367 and East Lansing was third with 375.?
Placing for Oxford were Beth Hubbard with 102, Kate Hubbard with 106, Jacqui Grace with 111 and Karen Offer with 117. The fifth player for the day was Jackie Maher with 120.
The Lady Wildcats are saying good-bye to senior Jacqui Grace this year. Grace had an excellent season, and often led the Oxford ladies in strokes.
Hubbard said the team will miss her and her leadership next season, but is looking forward to another strong year.
