Clarkston Elementary School celebrated Go Green Day, May 1.
About a dozen speakers talked about clean water, recycling, taking better care of animal habitats and other earth-friendly ideas. Fifth graders planted a native-plants garden in front of the school.
The school earned emerald Green School status by the state for this and other environmentally friendly activities, and each student received a white pine seedling to plant.
Clarkston City Council also presented a proclamation telling students the city named May 1, 2009, Arbor Day in the City of Clarkston, as part of the school’s Go Green Day celebrations.
