Goodrich Schools-It’s time for the Goodrich Class of 2003 to leave high school and move on to other life experiences.
Yet before the last graduate walks, the years of hard work are celebrated and recognized.
Graduation is set for June 8 at 1:30 p.m. in the gym. Family and friends will watch as 140 graduates take their final steps in the high school. Students may invite as many guests as they wish.
Recently members of the senior class hopped on a charter bus and headed for the Mall of America in Minneapolis.
Class sponsor Craig Cheney said the group left at 10 p.m. on May 8 and returned on May 10, along with Gina Briscoe another, sponsor.
‘When the seniors go on a trip they cannot stay overnight at a hotel room, so we stayed on the bus for two nights. It was great. We did tons of things for everyone.?
The students went to Camp Snoopy, a water adventure park, had dinner at Planet Hollywood and shopped till they dropped. Other places that were voted on were Chicago and Cleveland, but the Mall of America won by seven votes.
The juniors had a chance to be with their soon-to -be alumni friends on this year’s mystery trip. The junior/senior group visited Camp Tamarack on Perryville Road in Ortonville. They enjoyed hayrides, a bonfire and a climbing wall. After Tamarack, they went to Gameworks in Auburn Hills and then to the recreation center at Oakland University. More than 200 juniors and seniors enjoyed the celebration.
After graduation this year the seniors will party through the night at the post-grad party at Genesys Athletic Club from 10 p.m.-5 a.m. Money that was raised from bingo throughout the year will pay for the evening.
‘We are bringing in a hypnotist, character artist and a D.J. Racquetball, volleyball, tennis and other activities will be available all night,? said Cheney.
The students will receive their yearbooks sometime in the fall. No yearbook signing party has been scheduled. The cost for the yearbooks is $40.
