Erin O’Mara, 23, a 2002 Goodrich High School graduate, completed the112th Boston Marathon on April 21 in a time of 3:14:34. O’Mara finished 3,158th out of 25,283 Boston Marathon entrants and 250th among 8,935 women runners.
O’Mara, currently a senior at Eastern Michigan University in pre-occupational therapy, was a past member of the Goodrich Varsity Cross Country Team.
‘The Boston crowd was incredible’the whole 26.1 miles,? said O’Mara, who qualified for her first Boston Marathon with a time of 3:22:22 in the Air Force Marathon in Dayton, Ohio. ‘The hills during the race were pretty tough and there were plenty of them. The weather that day was warmer, about 60 degrees. I had been practicing in 20 degrees and colder all winter, so it was a change. There’s just so many runners’it’s an awesome experience.?
O’Mara said she is planning on running in the 2008 Chicago Marathon.
Bill Snyder, 64, a Grosse Pointe Park resident and Brandon Middle School Principal, also completed the Boston Marathon in 4:55:51.
