The Goodrich girls soccer team’s season ended June 3 at the hands of the best in the state.

The loss ends the Martians? season with a record of 16-5.
‘These girls were the state champions for a reason,? Goodrich coach Nigel Barnett said, referring to Bishop Foley. ‘We were basically outclassed, and there’s no shame in that.?
Goodrich captured their second district championship in school history (the first was in 1998) with a 5-1 win against North Branch in the district finals May 30 at Goodrich.
Natalie McCormick scored two goals for the Martians in the first half, while Bishop tallied another goal in that half. Jessica Engler and Natalie Cook notched goals in the second half.
Barnett said the young Martians gained a lot of experience this season and the team is heading in the right direction.
‘The culmination of this year was the chance to play in the first round of the regionals,? he said. ‘It shows how far our program is progressing.?
