Linden’s hockey team was just a few seconds away from earning a win against Goodrich in their Dec. 9 contest.
However, the Martians? Reece Geml scored on an assist from Tom Ferreri with two seconds left as Goodrich and Durand battled to a 3-3 tie, culminating a back-and-forth game between the two teams.
Linden’s John Magalski scored the first goal of the game with 5:55 left in the first period, but Max Hawkins knotted things up at one with 1:19 left in the first.
In the second period, Jeff Mullins scored for Linden with 5:46 left in the period to put the Eagles back up 2-1, but Goodrich answered with 5:22 left in the third period, as Ferreri scored on an assist from Geml.
The Eagles reclaimed the lead with 3:17 left in the third period on a goal from David Prout, setting up the Martians? last-second heroics.
