GAP competitors place at state meet

Several students from Lake Orion elementary and middle schools competed in the Hershey Track and Field state meet on July 8, in Holt, Michigan.
Students who won events at the local Dragon GAP (Guided Activities Program) Hershey Meet on June 11 automatically qualified to participate at the state meet.
Jeff O’Dea, a student at Blanche Sims Elementary, led the way for Lake Orion athletes, with a second-place finish in the 9-10-year-old standing long jump. O’Dea also placed third in the 100-meter dash, and sixth in the 50-meter dash.
Other state meet place winners from Lake Orion were: Placing third: Alyssa Wesley in the 11-12-year-old 800 run; and Wesley, Shannon Inglis, Amber Bohlman and Dara Grennon in the 11-12-year-old 4×100-meter relay.
Placing fourth: Douglas Mack in the 13-14-year-old 800-meter run and 1600-meter run; and Jacob Miller in the 11-12-year-old 100-meter dash.
Placing sixth: Samantha Robinson in the 13-14-year-old softball throw; and Miranda Lieblein, Brecca Byers, Madison Osentoski and Rachel Eaton in the 9-10-year-old 4×100-meter relay.
Placing seventh place: Inglis in the 11-12-year-old softball throw. Placing eighth place: Emily Kimmel in the 9-10-year-old standing long jump.
Other Lake Orion students who participated in the state meet were: John Beach, Erin Horne, Vincent Gianino, Brennyn Meirow, Todd Wolverton, Nick, Ostezan, Craig Matola and Brandi Frisbee.
