Clarkston Optimist Jeff Reed, left, and Jeff Morris, recreation programmer with Independence Township Parks and Rec, and a couple felt-skinned friends are busy planning for this year’s Friendly Forest, 3-6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, at Clintonwood Park. Kids ages 2-9 collect trick-or-treat goodies from television, movie, and fairy-tale characters, including Bert and Ernie. This year’s route through the park is set to be longer, Morris said. The Optimists are in their third year, helping to plan and volunteering at the Halloween event.
