A former Brandon Township resident and supervisor was killed in a car accident earlier this month.
Patricia Alexander, 61, of Roane County near Kingston, Tn., formerly of Brandon Township, was killed and others were seriously injured in a head-on crash between two vehicles that occurred Sept. 1 between Crossville and Crab Orchard on Highway 70 East, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol and local news sources.
Alexander also formerly served as a Brandon Township trustee.
The crash occurred around 3:27 p.m. at the intersection of Lavendar Lane and involved a 2001 Saturn occupied by a mother and child, and a 2011 Chevrolet van occupied by members of the Alexander family and friends.
According to the report, the Saturn, driven by a 20-year-old Oak Ridge, Tenn., woman was traveling east when it crossed the center line and struck the van head-on. Both She and her passenger were injured.
The van driver, Duane Paul Alexander, 37, of Waterford, Mich., and his passengers, Carl D. Alexander, 64, of Kingston, Yvonne Jean Har, 50, of West Bloomfield, Mich., Olivia Har, 16, and Jack Har, 14, were all injured in the crash.
Victims had to be extricated from the van and three helicopters were called to the scene to transport the more seriously injured. Two victims were airlifted from a ield near the crash site and a third was airlifted from Cumberland Medical Center.
Pat Alexander served as Brandon Township trustee from 1988-1992. She ran for Brandon Township supervisor in 1992 and lost to Janet Van Tine. Four years later, on Aug. 6, 1996 Patricia Alexander defeated two-term Republican Brandon Township Supervisor Janet Van Tine in the primary election. She then defeated Democratic challenger Bill Wright in the November election. She served for four years and did not seek reelection in 2000. She and husband Carl moved to Tennessee about 12 years ago.
