Former resident competes against 5th-graders on TV

Although former Oxford resident Sam Traylor may’ve gotten good grades during his elementary school career, his true knowledge will be put to the test on Thursday as he becomes a contestant on FOX’s Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
Traylor currently lives in Irvine, California, where he’s pursuing an acting or music career.
Although he’s been in Michigan commercials for casinos and eyewear companies, he said he’s always wanted to be on a reality or game show.
‘I can tell you they want people with charisma for this show,? he said. ‘I guess they saw that in me.?
Traylor said the whole experience was a ‘blast,? especially knowing he could possibly win $1,000,000.
Hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy, the show measures the adult contestant’s knowledge of certain fifth-grade level subjects against five actual fifth-graders. ‘I will tell you this is not staged,? Traylor said. ‘The kids truly are smart little hams.?
According to Traylor, Foxworthy is ‘really down to earth? and is ‘passionate? about what he’s doing.
Although he can’t divulge exactly what will happen on tomorrow night’s episode, the 32-year-old said there will be a big surprise and that he ‘will never forget that day.?
Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? will air on FOX at 8 p.m. this Thursday.
