Goodrich-By a 5-0 vote on Monday night, the village council approved David McDonald as interim code enforcer.
McDonald, 46, will earn $11 per hour for a maximum of 40 hours per month.
A Flint native and Goodrich resident, McDonald joined the Army following graduation from Swartz Creek High School in 1982. He served two years in the air defense artillery. He later attended Mott Community College and studied criminal justice receiving an associate’s degree.
Following a short stint at the Genesee Valley Mall in Flint Township, McDonald began his career at the Genesee County Sheriff Department. He retired in 2009 after 19 years.
McDonald replaces Bill Conley who resigned in October. Conley was investigated by the Genesee County Sheriff Department and admitted to forging a letter notifying an area property owner of a violation.
