Flint Powers next up for Martian kickers in districts

The Goodrich varsity boys soccer team got past one challenge and prepared to take on another in district action.
On Oct. 24 at LakeVille, the Martians defeated the host Falcons 2-0 to advance to the district semifinals. Goodrich broke a scoreless tie in the second half with goals by Stephen Harlow and Austin Mortimer in the second half. Goalie Andy Krause stopped approximately 10-11 LakeVille shots to earn the win, according to Goodrich coach Josh Watson.
Next up on the docket for the Martians is Flint Powers. The Martians were slated to travel to Powers to take on the Chargers in the district semifinals Wednesday, Oct. 26. Powers defeated Corunna 4-0 in their district opener Oct. 24.
Watson said he has seen Powers in action this season, and was impressed with what he saw.
‘They’re a really good team,? he said. ‘I thought their skill level was pretty high.?
He also said the Martians will have to play a strong defensive game against the Chargers, and play disciplined and smart soccer.
‘If we play the right kind of soccer, we’ll have a chance,? he said.
