Back-to-school shopping can be so expensive, and when you’re on a tight budget, it can be very difficult to get your children the special items they need.
That’s why Oxford/Orion FISH has started to collect donations for their annual School Backpack Drive.
Residents can donate backpacks, and various school supplies ? such as crayons, pencils, highlighters, colored pencils, folders, glue, scissors, three-ring binders, pencil boxes and zippered plastic pencil cases ? to the designated drop-off locations.
If you would like to help, but don’t have the time to shop yourself, FISH will accept monetary donations and purchase the items themselves. Last year, the community generously donated backpacks and supplies to 119 needy children.
Drop-off locations are at The Oxford Leader (666 S. Lapeer Rd.), Curves of Oxford (21 N. Washington), St. Joseph Church (715 N. Lapeer Rd.), Lake Orion United Methodist Church (140 W. Flint St.) and the Oxford/Orion FISH Pantry (487 First St., Thomas).
