Firefighter injured in blaze

At 2:21 p.m. Tuesday, Brandon firefighters responded to the 100 block of Huff Lake Court for a residential fire. When firefighters arrived, a single story home had smoke coming from the peak of the brick structure? in the early stages of a house fire, reported David Kwapis, fire chief.
The homeowner said he had used a butane torch to eradicate bees that had nested in the attic area near the roof of the residence. Firefighters had a difficult time finding the source of the smoke that had spread in the attic of the ranch style home.
‘It was a very warm day and the fire was under control within about 20 minutes,? he said. ‘The home received some structural damage along with smoke and water damage due to the fire. One firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and was treated at the scene and released. An estimated 3,000 gallons of water were used on the fire.?
The family was insured and were displaced from the structure. Firefighters were able to recover personal items.
Oakland County Sheriff Fire Investigator responded on Tuesday and the fire was ruled accidental.
