Livonia Ladywood once again proved to be an immovable obstacle for the Brandon varsity softball team.
The Blazers ended the Blackhawks? season for the third straight year in the Division 2 regional finals, earning a 12-2 win June 10 at Ladywood. Brandon finished its year at 28-12-1.
The previous two years, the Blazers also eliminated the Blackhawks in the regional finals, both times winning 1-0 in eight innings.
Brandon committed six errors in the first three innings, hindering their chances against Ladywood. The Blazers scored three runs in the first inning and five more in the second inning, and never looked back.
Senior Annemarie Solley had three hits and junior Lauren Ross added two in a losing cause for the Blackhawks.
Brandon advanced to the regional final with a 6-1 win against Detroit Country Day earlier in the day. Senior Jill Perry allowed two hits and struck out 11 to pick up the victory.
The Blackhawks broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the fourth inning.
Sophomore Ashley Prescott had three hits and two runs for the Blackhawks, while senior Ashley Brady chipped in with two hits and two RBI and senior Jessica Liebner added two hits and a run scored.
