James Henry Edwards, departed this life on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in Oklahoma City at the age of 79.
Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the Marlow Cemetery, with Rev. Arbuary Ritter officiating. All arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services of Marlow.
James was born Monday, October 17, 1938 in Shawnee, to James Henry and Mary Edith (Crotts) Edwards. He grew up in Marlow and graduated from Marlow High School where he played football. After graduation he moved to the Lake Orion area in Michigan. He married Peggy Laverene Files in Marlow on October 31, 1956. They were married for 31 years before her passing on December 26, 1987. He later went on to marry Freeda Faye Medcalf in 1989 in Buffalo, New York. They were married for 22 years before her passing on February 14, 2011. He later returned to Marlow after retiring from Arteo with more then 30 years of service in building machines. James enjoyed coaching youth in football and baseball. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved to shoot, hunt, and fish. He was a member of the Marlow Booster Club, NRA, and Ducks Unlimited.
Survivors include, 2 sons, James Bruce Edwards of Austin, AR, Gary Don Edwards of Ray Township, MI, 4 grandchildren, , Garett Edwards, Jennifer Scroggins, James Edwards, Lacey Edwards, 5 great-grandchildren, Trevor Scroggins, Tara Scroggins, Aaron Edwards, Emma Edwards, and Ripley Edwards. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends that loved him dearly.
Along with his 2 wives, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Marti Sue Edwards, his parents, and a sister, Donna June Beaver.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made in honor of James to the Marlow High School Athletic Program.
