Duke’s Communications comes to town

Goodrich – As a village native for more than 36 years, Duke’s Communications owner Jim Crary has brought his business home.
‘We are from this community,? said Crary, who opened the store in the Goodrich Plaza, 8165 S. State Road. ‘Our grandkids go to school here and my daughter attended Goodrich Schools for ten years.?
With the high cost of gas now, Crary said he is happy to provide residents a local store where they can come back as many times as they want to ask questions. ‘If we don’t have an answer, we will definitely make sure to get an answer for our customers,? he said.
Limiting their wireless providers to three companies, Crary emphasizes that Duke’s Communication is a better choice than larger stores who carry more products than they can ever understand.
‘Our wireless companies are Sprint, Nextel and Verizon and our sales representatives are more knowledgeable about each provider because we limit our companies to just three. Add to that, we do continuous training for our employees by sending them to lots of training through Verizon and Sprint,? said Crary. ‘They will especially need to be educated because Sprint bought out Nextel and they will be incorporating all kinds of new products as they make the merge.?
Getting a better product for less money, Crary said, is one of the best reasons for customers to get their wireless products at Duke’s.
‘Our prices are very competitive, if not better. As a local dealer we can actually do more for the customer than than a chain store can and we can sell for less,? said Crary. ‘We watch the markets at those bigger stores and we always make sure that what we sell is as competitive, or better. We will meet or beat any of the local competitor’s prices on what we sell.?
Crary said technology is really going to grow over the next two years. ‘Everything is becoming more and more wireless,? he said. ‘We have Bluetooth, the wireless cell phones that fit in the ear. It’s so much safer when used in the car. A driver can have both hands on the wheel.?
A popular trend right now, Crary said, is people are giving up their land lines to save money. ‘Getting a cell phone is less expensive. At the price of the land line charges, you can have a cellular, ? he said.
Another piece of innovative computer technology products that Duke’s Communication carries and a lot of people don’t know about, Crary said, is purchasing a Sprint air card for their internet use on their computer. ‘What’s great about an air card is that a customer can take their laptop anywhere and not worry about being connected to WIFI.
It’s all about doing what is best for the customer and not necessarily what is best for the salesperson that Crary said will build their reputation. ‘We take care of our customers first.?
