A stunning accident that saw a pickup truck veering into the opposing lane and skidding into other cars will not result in charges any time soon.
“A full drug screening and review of the medical records will be a major factor relating the charges on the driver of the responsible vehicle,” Orion Township Substation Lt. Daniel Toth said. “These results will take weeks and the accident investigator will then present all information to the prosecutor’s office.”
Toth described what his force’s reports found from last Wednesday’s crash.
“Witnesses had the pick-up truck driver slowly veer well into the south bound Baldwin lanes as if the driver was unconscious or unaware. Everyone in all three vehicles were fortunate in this crash. It could have been much worse. Seat belts helped protect everyone.”
Shortly after noon, a Dodge Ram swerved on both sides of Baldwin Road and also Judah Road. The truck sideswiped a Chevrolet Silverado, flipped on its side and skidded down Baldwin before hitting a Volkswagen Toureg, which had a child, 2, inside.
The woman in the Ram, a Holly resident, was rescued from her vehicle and was taken to McLaren Oakland Hospital, where she immediately was in stable condition.
