ORION TWP. — The Lake Orion Dragons took home their first dual meet win of the season on April 16 with a commanding 72-56 win over Oxford at Lake Orion High School.
Both the girls and boys teams had lost to Rochester Adams on April 9 in their first dual league meet of the season.

The Dragons were dominant across the 16 track and field events against Oxford, with several athletes setting personal records and season best records.
“All points count in a close dual meet and these were valuable points,” head coach Andrew McDonald said.
In the field events senior Alex Damiano was first in high jump in a jump of 5-feet, 8-inches, followed by senior Nolan Rhodes at 5-feet, 6-inches and senior Jahmari Cooper in a season best at 5-feet, 6-inches, in a clean sweep in the event.
Junior Jayden Borrero was first in the shot put in a personal best of 44-feet, 4-inches and first in the discus at 115-feet, 9-inches. Senior Tarzar Jackson took an important third place in the shot put at 38-feet, 9-inches, and Ryker Griffith threw 94-feet, 3-inches to take third place in the discus.
In pole vault, senior Nolan Rhodes set a personal best at 13-feet, 7-inches as he inches closer to the school record of 14-feet, 1-inch, and sophomore Tyler Mollan jumped 13-feet to finish first and second in the event. The OAA league does not include the pole vault in the final scoring, McDonald said.
The Dragons sprinters were led by senior Fernando Bartolome in the 100m and 200m dashes in 11.12 seconds and 22.71 seconds, respectively. He also anchored the winning 400m and 800 m relays.
The 200m relay team of Bartolome, James Bambard, Ben Lako and Payton Lyles ran 1:32.10 minutes for the win.

In the 400m relay, Cole Shoskey, Lyles, Lako and Blake Peardon took first place and set a personal record with a time of 3:31.51 minutes.
In the 1,600m run, senior Blake Peardon won with a time of 4:26 minutes and Lucero II won the 800m run with a time of 2:02.64 minutes to lead the distance runners.
