Dragons? baseball heads to Wildcat country for district tourney

The Dragons ended their final week of regular play with four wins and two losses.
They head to MSHAA District Tournaments on Saturday, May 30 to take on rivals Oxford High School in a Wildcat home game.
The Dragons have a good chance of making it far if the Rochester Adams Highlanders land a spot in the finals and, of course, if Oxford loses.
On Tuesday, May 19, the Dragons had a 21-11 win against the Falcons.
Mercy wins are rare to achieve even once in baseball, but the Dragons managed to have not one but two mercy wins this season, ending the game in five innings instead of seven.
The boys? meeting with Tigers? center fielder Curtis Granderson the day before seemed to pump up expectations for themselves even higher.
The Dragons were actually one point behind the Falcons throughout the first four innings, but in the fifth inning, the team fought back and took their opponents by surprise.
In the fifth inning, the Dragons turned the game around by scoring 11 runs.
A game which the Dragons started off behind, they ended up surpassing their opponents by ten points and ending the game two innings early.
On Wednesday, May 20, the boys? played Clarkston. Dragons won, 13-9.
Phil Serzo went two-for-five in that game with one home run, three runs batted it, and two runs scored. Aidan Murdock went three-for-five with two runs batted in, and teammate Eric Knoblock went three-for-five.
On Friday, May 22, Lake Orion played against Farmington Hills Harrison, winning 3-1. That same day, Dragons took on Lowell but lost, 4-0.
On Saturday, May 23, Lake Orion played against Pontiac Notre Dame Preparatory, winning 6-5, but losing against Warren De La Salle 14-1.
In the game against Notre Dame Prep, Matt Fish went two-for-two with two runs, and Kyle Rosen went one-for-two with two runs batted in.
‘To win a game – it feels great,? said Rosen.
‘It’s great to accomplish something as a team and even better with our Lake Orion team. To lose – it is something that you have to shake off and know that there is another game the next day. It doesn’t feel good, but it just a reminder that there is more to do to get better.?
