Donna Fleming, 78, of Lake Orion

FLEMING, Donna Lee (Brookie), age 78, resident of Lake Orion, Michigan for 38 years, passed away July 7, 2023 after an admirable and tenacious fight.

Born in Tucumcari, New Mexico in 1945, she was an Air Force “brat”, and led an interesting and varied life.

Donna graduated from Riverside Community College in California, having majored in English. Just a few of her many achievements and interests include having been a junior golf champion; fencer; lover of her two dachshunds, Corky and Cassie; photographing the wildlife and beautiful sunsets at her home on Lake Orion; and being an antique dealer which she enjoyed sharing with her beloved husband, Fred.

Donna was known for her fantastic sense-of-humor and sharp wit, and she kept all who knew her laughing and on their toes. She loved everyone, was a great listener and helped many in her daily life, and those who knew her, loved her fiercely.

Donna was a proud grandmother and adored her granddaughters Casey Heaton, Hailey Heaton, and the late Ashley Heaton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Air Force Col. Donald Brookie and Marjorie Brookie, granddaughter Ashley, and daughter-in-law Lori.

She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Fred Fleming; son, Donald Heaton; daughter, Tam Heaton-Wyrick (Gregory); Step-children, Amy Rusnell (Todd) and Rick Fleming (Michael); sisters, Bev Warren (Jim) and Betty Johnson (Lary); granddaughters, Casey Heaton (Casey), Hailey Heaton (Noah); step-grandchildren, Andy (Kelly) and Austin (Katie); and step-great grandchildren, Kinsley and Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Katie Johnson (David) and Eric Johnson.

A memorial visitation will be held Monday, July 10, 2023 from 5-9 p.m. at Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, 5929 S. Main Street, Clarkston.

The family would like to express special thanks to our wonderful, talented, and loving caregivers who took excellent care of Donna. Thank you also to all of the family’s friends and family members, as well as employers to Don (Flotronics Automation/Modular Solutions) and Tam (CARE House of Oakland County and Dennis, Moye, Branstetter & Associates), who supported us during this very difficult time.
