‘Have a heart.?
That’s the plea coming from Oxford resident Jennifer Gentry after finding out someone stole money from a donation jar for her son, who’s battling leukemia.
Last Thursday, a ‘dark-haired, thin man? entered the Indianwood Junction Party Shop at Indianwood and Baldwin in Orion Twp., and stole money out of the special jar and allegedly purchased beer.
Gentry’s son, 12-year-old Brandon, has acute lymphoblastic leukemia and has to undergo a chemo regimen at home every day and at the hospital for the next three years. The donation buckets help to pay for his treatments.
‘I’m living off the buckets and my unemployment,? his mother said. ‘The buckets are very, very important and they’re very, very helpful.?
Gentry said she understands how desperate some people can be for money with the economy the way it is.
‘It’s a chance you have to take when you put jars out there,? she said.
For those interested in donating to the Gentrys, a special B’s Healing Fund for Brandon has been set up at the Oxford Bank locations in both Oxford and in Lake Orion.
If you see anyone stealing from donation jars, don’t hesitate to call your local law enforcement agency.
