Grapplers are getting ready for regional competitions this week after successful districts.
The Wolves took their place as district champions for Division 1 after pinning Waterford Mott and Kettering this past Wednesday. The wins brought their overall record up to 16-4.
‘I think the guys are excited in the post season,? said Coach Joe DeGain.
In the semifinals, Clarkston defeated Mott, 69-7.
Leading the way with pins were Jeff Sloney (103), Ty Foltz (112), Matt Deitz (125), Alex Popp (140), Erik Butterfield (160), Bryant Craft (171), and Adam Lauzun (189).
Ryan Brown (130) and Mike Richmond (285) defeated their competition by securing the most points.
Derek Booker (135), Evan King (145), Matt Vandermeer (152), and Sloan Hadsall (215) won by void.
The team went on to finals against Waterford Kettering and won, 46-18.
Popp, Butterfield, Lauzun, and Hadsall took down their opposition.
Deitz, King, and Richmond added points for the team by defeating their opponents.
On Saturday, they wrestled individually to qualify for regionals.
Deitz, Popp, King, Vandermeer, Lauzun, Craft, Hadsall, and Richmond will compete in the MHSAA Individual Regional meet this Saturday at Hartland High School.
On Wednesday, will compete in team regionals against Holly, Hartland, and Detroit Catholic Central. They meet starts at 6 p.m. at Holly High School, 6161 East Holly Road.
The Saturday meet will start at 9 a.m. at Hartland High School, 10635 Dunham Road.
